Yes, a credit card company can charge you a fee for convenience checks, even if the check has a zero percent interest rate.
The credit card company is required to tell you the fee when you opened your account. Also, if the terms changed or if it’s been more than 30 days since you opened your account, you’ll see the fee on the front page containing the checks.
Warning: Convenience checks can put you at risk for identity theft if they fall into the wrong hands. If you’re concerned about identity theft, you may want to call your credit card company and ask them to stop sending you convenience checks.
